- Biographical Sketch
- Dr. Christine Haught received a B.S. in Mathematics from Bowling Green State University, and earned both an M.S. in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cornell University. Shortly after joining Loyola's faculty, Dr. Haught was appointed Dickson Instructor and National Science Foundation Research Fellow at the University of Chicago. Her research interests are primarily in mathematical logic, recursion theory, and complexity theory. Dr. Haught's research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and she has given invited talks at the University of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute at Berkeley, and Oberwolfach, Germany. Her work has appeared in leading journals, including the Journal of Mathematical Logic, the Annals of Pure and Applied Logic, and the Transactions of the A.M.S. For several years, Dr. Haught has served as program director of the Young Scholars Project, a National Science Foundation sponsored computer science summer enrichment program for Chicago-area high school students. In the Spring of 1998, Dr. Haught was honored by Loyola's Sujack Committee for Excellence in Teaching, and deemed a Master Teacher in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Haught currently serves as faculty advisor to Loyola's chapter of SWE (the Society of Women Engineers). During the Spring Semester of 1999, Dr. Haught will direct the NSF-funded Alliance for Minority Participation which provides internships for tutoring and research to minority undergraduate students who major in science.
