Dr. Thiruvathukal Wins Top Loyola Teaching Award

Dr. George Thiruvathukal, Associate Professor of Computer Science, has been named one of the two winners of the 2009 Sujack Award for Teaching Excellence in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Thiruvathukal received both a plaque and cash award in a ceremony on April 20. In addition, the Computer Science Department will benefit from a cash award to be used in support of activities that will embrace teaching at the department level; the department received particular praise from Dean Frank Fennell for its interdisciplinary teaching activities. Dr. Thiruvathukal has been at the forefront of interdisciplinary teaching via his creation of the "History of Computing" course, which provides University Core credit in the Historical Knowledge category.
