Loyola Leads in 50 For the Future Awards

Loyola students have captured more awards (7) than any other institution in this year's 50 For the Future competition of the Illinois Technology Foundation; the institutions with the next largest numbers of winners were IIT and UIC with 4 each. Additionally, Loyola tied with Northwestern for the largest number of graduate student winners (3).

  • Anastasia Johnson (Information Technology)
• Undergraduate students:
  • Kourtni Marshall (Computer Science)
  • Cathryn L. Pierson (Information Systems)
  • Alyxandria Schubert (Bioinformatics)
  • Laurel Yohe (Bioinformatics)

The Illinois Technology Foundation annually selects 50 student winners based on the following criteria:

1. Student Demonstrates
   • interest in technology
   • aptitude in technology
   • ability to apply technology
   • technical knowledge
2. Demonstrates a capacity for innovative thinking
3. Demonstrates leadership skills
4. Involved in community or school activities
5. Exhibits a passion to act
6. Has effective communication and listening skills

• High school students attending a Chicago public school (9 winners)
• Graduate students (11 winners; 3 from LUC)
• College students (26 winners; 4 from LUC)
• Technical or vocational school students (4 winners)
