Konstantin Laufer

I am a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Loyola University Chicago. I received a PhD in computer science from New York University after several years of undergraduate work in physics at the University of Konstanz, including one study-abroad year at Rutgers University. Prior to that, I attended Heinrich-Suso Gymnasium Konstanz and Grundschule Dettingen-Wallhausen. I am a native of Freiburg im Breisgau in the Black Forest region and understand Alemannic, a southwest German dialect spoken in six countries (alemannische Sprache, alemanische Wikipedia).

I play the saxophone, clarinet, and wind controller. I enjoy many kinds of music (jazz, blues, Latin — especially cumbia, chicha and vallenato —, konpa, soul, classical, etc.). Besides music, I enjoy traveling and sports (soccer — SC Chicago, XC skiing, hiking, cycling, sailing, strength and endurance training; I used to play team handball until age 13 or so). In principle, I also enjoy reading, but I never seem to get much of it done.
